As an organization, it is hard to take a moment to reflect on the Town's core values, mission, and guiding principles. Stepping back and considering how they influence the teams' decision making process on a daily basis is imperative.
Town Council Retreats offer that opportunity and serve as a powerful tool for our government leaders to refocus on the mission of the Town and develop priorities which are in line with our core values.
Moreover, Council Retreats can be energizing. They are opportunities for your elected officials and Town staff to take a pause from the day-to-day routine and organize around the foundational elements of the organization's service – who we serve, what values we uphold, and what direction we are headed.
Town Council Members and staff will convene for the annual one-day retreat where the Town Council identifies several short and long term priorities for staff to focus on.
Successful Council Retreats not only achieve the primary objective of identifying strategic priorities, they also create a renewed drive to achieve a Town's mission and plan for the future.
As local government leaders who continuously strive to improve the delivery of Trophy Club's public services, the Town Council Retreat is the ideal environment to step out of the details of the daily routine and view the work through a wider lens. The Town Council serves as a link between the residents of Trophy Club and their municipal government. The Town of Trophy Club operates under a council-manager form of government as approved by voters through the adoption of the Town of Trophy Club Charter.
The Trophy Club Charter provides that the Trophy Club Town Council shall consist of the Mayor and six Council members elected by numbered places and are elected at-large by the registered voters of Trophy Club to serve three-year, staggered terms of office.
Councilors help constituents by connecting them to resources, services, and Town departments. Town Council also administers the Town's goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements ranging from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning. They serve as advocates for all Trophy Club residents.
