UPDATE: As of October 21, 2019, the lane markings have been updated!
Last week, Trophy Club received a response from Tina Massey, Engineer at Denton County TXDOT, that they have instructed the contractor at Charles Schwab to make changes immediately to the traffic signal and lane markings at Hwy 114 and Trophy Lake Drive. These changes will once again, result in having one lane be a dedicated left, a middle lane to either turn left or continue straight, and a third lane dedicated to only going straight. These changes will help ease congestion for those traveling out of Trophy Club as well as those driving into the new Schwab complex.
TXDOT received a huge amount of communication via letters, emails, phone calls and messages from concerned Trophy Club residents and Town leadership including the Mayor and Council. Everyone worked tirelessly to help express the difficulties of the intersection changes to ALL those in the area. The community truly came together and championed the issue with a fantastic end result.
"We are pleased that TXDOT was open to hearing from our residents and elected officials", stated Town Manager Steve Norwood, "having fluid mobility in and out of Trophy Club is extremely important especially along the Hwy 114 corridor".
The Town is hopeful that these changes will be completed as soon as possible, potentially even during the week of October 21st. However, we are not completely sure how quickly TXDOT will get these changes made. In the interim period, the Community Development Streets Division has placed signage on the Northbound side of the frontage road on Trophy Lake Drive to remind residents that they must merge left. Until the revisions are complete, residents should observe the current pavement markings and signage.
