[ARCHIVED] Indy Gets a New Look

Indy New Vest

Local real estate agent Marlene Trevino reached out to the TCEVA wanting to show her support for the Trophy Club PD K9 Unit! She did so by purchasing a new tactical patrol harness with built-in Kevlar.

The patrol harness was custom made to specifically fit Indy and has built in Kevlar. The Kevlar is similar to what we wear on duty and helps protect Indy from gunfire! K9 Indy and Officer Barry Sullivan serve on the North Tarrant Regional SWAT Team and have deployed with them on several tactical operations where this vest was beneficial for his safety. This vest is form-fitting and keeps Indy safe during those high-risk deployments.

The vest is light weight, comfortable and has mesh portions to help keep Indy cool during the hot summer days! The vest has a GoPro attachment on the top as well as a high power LED light on the breast piece which puts off a large amount of light for him to see in dark buildings or hard to see areas during patrol functions.

Because of how light weight and versatile the vest is; Indy can wear it regularly which will keep him safe!  THANK YOU, Ms. Trevino, for your generosity and selfless donation to our PD team!

About K9 Indy:

K9 Indy is a German Shepherd that was born in the European country of Hungary and celebrated his second birthday on April 20, 2016. He is a dual purpose working dog trained in narcotics detection, as well as, the tracking and apprehension of persons. Police Officer Barry Sullivan serves as the handler for Indy and the two trained together for 240 hours prior to Indy’s first shift on the streets of Trophy Club in October of 2015.

In his first eight months of service alone officers, Sullivan and Indy had 56 deployments during that time frame alone that involve narcotics detection, tracking, apprehension, building/area searches, and socializations. In addition to the service to the Town of Trophy Club, the Trophy Club Police Department K9 Unit has been called to assist other agencies, including the Texas Rangers, Roanoke PD, Northlake PD, Justin PD, Corinth PD, and the Northwest independent School District.

The partnering of Officers Indy and Sullivan has played an important role in taking illicit substances such as marihuana, methamphetamine, heroin, and the accompanying paraphernalia, out of the hands of criminals and off the streets making the Town of Trophy Club a safer place for all to enjoy.
