Trophy Club, TX (December 15, 2022) – The Town of Trophy Club has announced the promotion of April Duvall as the new finance director.
Duvall is an executive leader with expertise in all facets of accounting, financial management, financial analysis, and controllership in Trophy Club. She is skilled in collaborating with all members of the organizations she works within while achieving quality results in her business and financial objectives.
Duvall has been instrumental in streamlining and improving processes, enhancing productivity, and implementing technology solutions. She excels as a financial point person for Executive Management and Operations while continually and significantly improving performance. Last year Duvall was the lead in moving the Town’s accounting software to a web-based platform which greatly increased the Town’s resiliency in the event of a power loss at Town Hall due to a natural or man-made disaster.
Previously, Duvall was honored with the first "Excellence Award" presented by the Town of Trophy Club Leadership Team. The award was for superior and faithful demonstration of the TC core values (Innovation, Integrity, Service, Stewardship, & Teamwork). When tasked with working to move the town court processes over to Roanoke, Duvall was instrumental in the development of combining the programs and processes to make the transition possible. Duvall has risen as the employee who met and exceeded every challenge she faced while representing these core values.
As servant leaders within the organization, TC team members are accountable for their actions, standing at the ready to take responsibility when things go right… or wrong. Real accountability is about investing and impacting the outcomes of the tasks around us. Duvall is always willing to assist others when needed and goes above and beyond to help if mistakes are made.
“One of my main goals in mentoring the Finance team has always been to ensure that all of our staff can fulfill ALL functions required of the Finance Department,” said Duvall. “This ensures that the department and the town don’t suffer when obstacles or setbacks occur. We always want to be prepared, and the best way to do that is by having the whole team be able to function together as one.”
Integrity is a significant core value for TC. It is a culmination of honesty and strong ethical values, which is why Duvall represents this value daily. Having someone with such a strong moral character and rectitude is paramount. Duvall has been instrumental in preparing and completing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) report for several years. She has led the team with her hands-on approach to ensuring the whole department successfully executed the document.
Duvall has been the epitome of a team player. She steps up to any challenge at every pass. She is always willing to put in more time and energy as long as it helps her fellow coworker or the organization.
“April has been a foundational piece of our finance team for many years and has continued to dedicate herself to developing her skills and abilities while remaining a faithful servant leader,” said Town Manager Wade Carroll. “I am glad to have the opportunity to promote a great employee from within the organization. I’m positive she will have an even greater impact on our organization as a Director of Finance.”
Duvall has over 15 years of experience working with local government and the private sector, including the Town of Trophy Club, where she has served in the finance department since August 2011. Duvall is also a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), obtaining her certification in 2016.
“I am excited at the opportunity to be a part of the Town of Trophy Club to provide sound fiscal management and responsiveness to its taxpayers,” said Duvall.
