[ARCHIVED] Police and Fire Make it Official with Badge Pinning Ceremony

Badge Pinning

Trophy Club, TX (October 25, 2022) - During the Trophy Club Town Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 25th, both the Police and Fire Department Chief's honored and swore in team members with an official Badge Pinning Ceremony. This ceremony serves as an official "welcome and congratulations,” but it also serves as a welcome to the first responder’s families as well.

Each officer and firefighter chose a loved one to pin their new badge on them; either their spouse, one of their children, or a parent/grandparent to do the honors. It’s always a very special and emotional ceremony.

“We recognize that it’s not just the officer or firefighter who makes a sacrifice. It’s also the employees’ spouse and family who make great sacrifices simply by having a loved one that is a dedicated first responder,” said Chief Wise.

There are three times in a police and fire career when a badge pinning takes place; a new officer/firefighter, a promotion, and a retirement. During this year's Badge Pinning Ceremony, the following were honored:

Police Department:

  • Cecelia Valadez

  • Abraham Medina
  • Zachary Sprouse
  • David Hollywood
  • Caleb Montgomery
  • Barry Sullivan (promoted)
  • Elder Guevara (promoted)

“Becoming a police officer is a calling,” said Chief Arata. Like all Trophy Club first responders, these men and women never shy away from danger. They instinctively run towards it, and that’s why their work has life-changing effects that ripple throughout the community. “It is a desire to protect the innocent and serve the community,” added Chief Arata.

During the ceremony, two Police Department Officers, Barry Sullivan, and Elder Guevara, were honored and promoted to Sergeant.

Chief Arata added, “We are so fortunate to have so many highly trained and qualified police officers within the department.”

Fire Department:

  • Matt Hinig

  • Fabian Gonzalez

These first responders exemplify the dedication and professionalism of being a Trophy Club Police Officer and Firefighter. Congratulations to everyone! The TC community is a safer and better place because of their commitment.
