Halloween is a fun and exciting time for families and neighborhoods. With Halloween right around the corner, the Town and the TCPD would like to offer a few helpful safety tips to trick-or-treaters, parents, and motorists in order to assist the community in enjoying this fun-filled holiday as safely as possible. Also, a reminder that Trick or Treating is NOT a Town run event or activity but rather a time-honored tradition that the community supports. The Town does not schedule or regulate trick or treating hours, though traditionally it begins at dusk.
To keep things fun and safe this year, we encourage everyone to be smart and do their part. Here are a few tips:
Trick or Treaters:
- Make sure to bring a flashlight on your trick-or-treat outing.
- Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.

- If you do not walk with your children (if they are older) instruct children not to stray from their group.
- Parents should know what route their children will be taking.
