June 14, 2022 - The Town of Trophy Club was honored to receive three overall awards, including one first-place award TAMI Award and two Awards of Honor, at the annual Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) conference in Houston on June 09, 2022. This years awards follow up an TAMIO Award of Excellence received in 2019, where the Office of Communication took home a trophy at the conference in Denton.
TAMIO Awards recognize outstanding communication by Texas communities in a variety of categories including website, social media, video production and publications. Judging is conducted by non-TAMIO members with expertise in communications and municipal government. This year, TAMIO had an amazing awards season, with an astounding 435 entries, tying last year's award entry record.
Trophy Clubs' Grinch Porch Pirate video, Outdoor Warning Siren Explainer video, and Trophy Club Park video series were all finalists which took home awards at this year's ceremony.
“Providing strong communication to the Town of Trophy Club is one of our primary goals,” stated Mayor Alicia Fleury. “This was an excellent project and is reflective of the wonderful work Jill Lind does to communicate to the community!”
Trophy Club was presented with the following awards:
TAMI Award (1st place) Category: PSA - Educational
• Outdoor Warning Siren Explainer
Storm season in North Texas always gives people a run for their money. That was certainly true in the Spring of 2021 when a series of storms activated Trophy Club's Outdoor Warning Sirens (OWS). As a result of that series of storms and the OWS triggering, there was a lot of confusion about what they meant. The TC team set out to create a creative and easy way to explain more about the OWS in TC.
Award of Honor (3rd Place) Category: Best Use of Humor
• Trophy Club Grinch Porch Pirate
The holidays are when porch pirates are busy trying to ruin the season for many people everywhere. While porch pirates are a year-round problem, thefts increase during the holiday season. The goal of the TC Grinch video was to remind TC residents that the best was to defeat the "bad guys" and protect their packages is to be proactive. The objective was to provide tips, from the TC Police Chief, that would help to reduce the chance of package theft, specifically during the holiday season.
Award of Honor (3rd Place) Category: Regular or Recurring Programming
• Trophy Club Park
The TC team's goal was to create a video series that would showcase the beauty of the park, provide detailed information about the different adventures visitors could find and spread awareness concerning specifics like hours and information. The Trophy Club Park video series currently has released 7 videos with more planned in FY 2022.
“We are always striving to find new ways to inform and to get our residents involved and engaged,” said Town Manager Wade Carroll. “We are honored that the judges saw the wonderful work and the effort our team does with regards to communications.”

About TAMIO:
The Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) was developed as a result of the increasingly complex role of public information in municipal government. When organized in 1974, only a handful of Texas cities employed professional communications staffs. Today, TAMIO has a growing number of public information / public relation specialists serving small communities as well as urban centers throughout the state.
TAMIO actively seeks to:
- Advance and promote the active cooperation and exchange of information and ideas among Texas cities;
- Provide professional development for public information and communications managers who work in municipal government or similar agencies;
- Provide relations assistance where possible to municipalities and the Texas Municipal League (TML); and
- Promote recognition outside the organization for achievement in communication with citizens.
TAMIO is an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League, which was organized in 1913 and currently represents some 98% of Texas’ urban population through its more than 1,150 member cities. Guided by its purpose statement—Empowering Texas cities to serve their citizens—the League helps city leaders meet the ever-changing challenges of governance. As partners, TML and TAMIO offer the best in representation and assistance to cities and their respective colleagues. For more information, visit www.texastamio.org
