Trophy Club, TX (January 31, 2022) – For the first time this winter season, the forecast is calling for significant ice and snow across much of North Texas. It will begin with an arctic cold front that will move in from the NW to SE during the day Wednesday, February 02, 2022, resulting in the possibility of freezing rain, sleet and possibly snow.
Though specific amounts of the rain/ice/snow cannot be predicated as of yet, the weather front will likely bring some hazardous travel conditions Wednesday night into the day Thursday for Trophy Club.
Here are some suggestions for things you should do before the weather arrives:
The amount of snow that could accumulate in any given area will be determined by when the transition from freezing rain and sleet over to snow occurs Wednesday night. As of now, it looks like the majority of the precipitation for the DFW area will be rain/freezing rain/sleet but with snow also possible as the winter storm winds down.
Areas to the North and West of the immediate DFW area will make the transition to snow much faster and thus more significant snow amounts can be expected there. Of course, a faster-than-anticipated transition from ice to snow here in the heart of the Metroplex will increase the snow accumulation totals locally.
Again, exact forecast amounts of ice and snow across North Texas are unavailable at this time. PLEASE FOLLOW LOCAL NEWS AND WEATHER OUTLETS for the most up to date information available.
