Back to School TC 2021 copy

Trophy Club, Texas (August 09, 2021) - Back to school means a lot of things to a lot of people…… but to the Town of Trophy Club is means more traffic and more sharing of the road, with vehicles AND pedestrians. Safety remains our top priority so, the Town has spent the last few weeks preparing for the influx of activity, schedules and traffic about to hit the pavement.

“In Trophy Club we are committed to working hard to keep your most prized possessions safer as they make their way back to school,” stated Town Manager Wade Carroll

school zoneAs school rapidly approaches, the Streets Division has worked tirelessly checking school zone flashers and crosswalks throughout the community with the main focus of both the private and public schools in Trophy Club heading back to in-person learning the week of August 16th, 2021!  With that in mind, the Town has set the flashers to begin on August 16, 2021. This will allow everyone two days to get used to having the school zones back in place and the flashers / crosswalks school ready. Be mindful when driving through school zones when the flashers are flashing! The speed limit will be active, enforceable, and fineableHere are a few main things to remember with regards to safety in our school zone areas:

  • Use of cell phones are prohibited in school zones;
  • Crossing Guards have authority to regulate traffic;
  • Disregarding a Crossing Guard is a fineable violation;
  • Drivers must yield to school bus when it’s red lights are flashing

“We want drivers to be ready when those flashers light up and we also want our children to feel safe and knowing our equipment is working properly so they can walk to school confidently,” stated Community Development Director Matt Cox.

While the Streets Division is hard at work, the Police and Crossing Guards are also gearing up for the school season to start. The School Crossing Guards are dedicated to providing safe bicycle and pedestrian routes to and from school, for elementary, middle, and high school-aged children. The Crossing Guard program in Trophy Club currently has nine crossing guards covering posts at four schools throughout the Town.

The Crossing Guards have polished up on training that included essential crossing guard procedures, information on the health and welfare of guards, proper equipment and uniforms as well as a refresher on what resources are available from the Police and Fire departments to help the guards ensure the children’s safety. Currently, the Town of Trophy Club is looking to add to its Crossing Guard team! If you are interested in becoming one of our valued TC employees for the school year, please CLICK HERE for more information.

“The Crossing Guards are a critical component to the Police Departments’ child safety program”, said Chief Arata. “During school zone hours, please slow down and watch for kids and follow the directions of the crossing guards.”

As the Town of Trophy Club prepares for this new school year, we hope our residents are also prepped and ready!  If not, Hurry up and complete those preparations so you can enjoy these last few weeks of summer in style. The Towns' Community Pool and Splash Pad Complex is calling you to enjoy her refreshing fun while you can. Starting Monday August 16, 2021, the Community Pool Complex will be closed on weekdays but will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays through Sept 6th. All hours will remain the same.
