Trophy Club, TX (February 24, 2021) – At the February 23, 2021 Town Council meeting, the Town's part of the May 01, 2021 election was canceled as neither of the two council seats were contested.
Declared Elected to three-year terms was incumbent Karl Monger, Place 4 and political veteran (P&Z and Charter Review Commission) Dennis Sheridan, Place 3. Sheridan replaces Sean Bone, who didn’t seek re-election. They will be sworn in at the May 11, 2021, Town Council Meeting.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure serving alongside CM Monger and I look forward to continuing our good work, Karl truly has a servant’s heart,” said Mayor Alicia Fleury.
The Mayor went on to say “I’d like to thank CM Bone for his service on Council, as well as his time with EDC. I’m sure he’ll continue to serve our community. I will miss Sean’s wonderful sense of humor, we could always count on him for laughs and levity! I’m excited to welcome CM-Elect Sheridan, an 18-year Town volunteer, and honored veteran, in his new role. Dennis certainly brings a wealth of knowledge to our Council!”
Other entities will still hold the election scheduled for May 01, 2021, for items related to the NISD Bond items and for residents of Denton and Tarrant County, however, the Town will not incur any expenses for these elections. Stay tuned for more information regarding election news for both counties and their exact polling location information.
Town Manager Steve Norwood estimated the Town of Trophy Club will save “approximately ten thousand dollars” in election costs by canceling the Town's election this Spring. ”It’s not a huge amount of money, but every bit helps, especially with some additional expenses we incurred due to last week’s significant winter storm,” said Norwood.
Residents in Northwest ISD will have an opportunity to vote in the school bond election where on the ballot will include the following four propositions, which total $745.7 million.
- Proposition A: School Facilities & Capital Improvements - $712,400,000
- Proposition B: Stadium Renovations - $8,200,000
- Proposition C: Middle School Recreational Facilities - $5,700,000
- Proposition D: Technology Devices - $19,400,000
The next election for a Town Council position will be May 2022 when the terms end for Place 5, Michael Geraci and Place 6, Philip Shoffner.
