Trophy Club, TX (February 18, 2021) – Trophy Club, TX – On February 17, 2021, Mayor Alicia Fleury signed a Declaration of Local Disaster due to a Winter Weather Emergency for the Town of Trophy Club joining the State of Texas and Denton County in issuing similar declarations.
The severe winter weather has posed an imminent threat of widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to prolonged freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and freezing rain statewide. Trophy Club has seen bitterly cold temperatures, dangerous road conditions, several inches of snow, and power outages. Mayor Fleury urged residents to remain home if they can, to seek shelter, avoid driving if possible, and to take all cautionary measures to ensure the safety of all persons and animals in their care.
“I have been asking people to please stay home if you can and take care of your loved ones,” said Fleury. “Check in with those who may be vulnerable to this extreme weather. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the safety of our residents and security of our infrastructure.”
The declaration activates the Town of Trophy Club Emergency Management Plan. It goes into effect immediately for a period of not longer than seven days unless it is continued or renewed by the Town Council.
The emergency declaration allows the town to gain access to materials such as sand and ice melt from the county through the emergency management system. It also allows Trophy Club to suspend normal bidding requirements for materials and supplies purchased to manage the emergency, increasing the town’s efficiencies.
Residents may stay updated on weather conditions by checking the Town’s website and following the Town’s on Facebook.
