[ARCHIVED] TC Introduces OpenGov Interactive Budgets to Drive Financial Transparency

OpenGov News Flash

Trophy Club, TX (March 01, 2021) – Today, Trophy Club is pleased to announce it has partnered with OpenGov - the leading Budgeting and Performance company that powers more effective and accountable government – to introduce the NEW TC Interactive Budget.

"I am excited to roll this platform out to our residents,” said Finance Manager Mike Erwin. “This will give the user access to the Town’s budget and with a click of the ‘transactions’ button – allow the reader to view individual transactions of the Town”.

The OpenGov Cloud™ is the leading cloud-based solution for budgeting, performance, communications, and reporting. The Town of Trophy Club is using OpenGov to offer residents a look at Trophy Club's financial budgeting, planning, reporting, and transparency that is easy for everyone to follow.

OpenGov’s transparency site aggregates, organizes, and visualizes various data sets (like budgets, building permits, and 311 requests). It’s powered by CKAN - the open-source standard that the U.S. federal government, the European Union, and hundreds of other agencies around the world use for open data. It also includes tools like APIs that developers can use to build applications.

“Our open data portal is a win-win for Trophy Club and the community,” said OpenGov CEO Zac Bookman. “Trophy Club joins over 2,000 city, county, and state governments, special districts, and schools that rely on OpenGov to be more effective and accountable."

The NEW TC Interactive Budget serves two purposes: it gives community members more insight into how their taxpayer dollars are spent and gives Town officials and directors across numerous departments easier access to data so they can make more informed decisions that drive better outcomes.

“So many times trying to figure out and access your community’s budget and where or how the money is spent is a challenge,” said Town Manager Steve Norwood.  “This new OpenGov interactive budget is incredibly easy to access, navigate and understand.  It is definitely moving Trophy Club in the right direction while continuing to be as transparent as possible.”
