[ARCHIVED] Town Welcomes New Mayor and Council Members to the Dais

New Leaders at the Dais

Trophy Club, TX (November 30, 2020) – Nearly six months after the normally scheduled election, the TC local municipal election was held, and the Town has elected a new mayor and new council members.

Alicia Fleury received 4,131 votes in the mayoral race establishing her as the new Mayor of Trophy Club. Mayor Fleury will lead the community until May 2023 and serve in the main seat at the dais.

Mayor Fleury is eager to get started. Her first order of business is making sure she is on the same page with the Town Council and the Town Manager.

“We need to respect each other so that we can work together, knowing we can agree to disagree, without being disagreeable. I plan to listen to the community and work with Council and the Town Manager find ways where we might be able to implement requests from our residents”, Mayor Fleury said.

“I’m humbled by the support I’ve received throughout this extended campaign season and I look forward to building upon what the present administration has put in place,” Mayor Fleury continued. “We are all neighbors…no matter our political views, whether national or local, we are all in this together.  It’s our job as Mayor and Council to represent ALL of Trophy Club. I want to have a transparent, open, and honest relationship with the residents of this community.”

In addition to welcoming a new Mayor, the TC dais will also change with the addition of two new council members. With these three additions, the Town Council will sit a full leadership group to help navigate the strategic direction for the town.

Mr. Greg Lamont is back filing both Place 1 and also serving as Mayor Pro Tem. CM Lamont has served as an elected official and as a volunteer on various boards, commissions, and committees during his time on council from 2013 to 2019.  CM Lamont has served as the Mayor Pro Tem for 3 years previously (2014 to 2017) and on the Towns’ Budget Committee.  Mr. Lamont is a current member of the Metroport Cities Partnership and is a past member of Keep 35W Moving Forward, Membership Committee as well as having served as a President of The Lakes of Trophy Club.

“I look forward to working with the new Council and staff, we are blessed to live in Trophy Club, a great place to call home,” CM Lamont stated.

The next open seat was that of Place 2, which was filled by Mr. Gregory Wilson.  Wilson ran unopposed in this election to secure his spot on the dais.  Similar to CM Lamont, CM Wilson has served in a variety of capacities previously including having served as the President of the Trophy Club Municipal Utility District #1, as the President of Trophy Club’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC4B), and as a former member of the EDC 4A. CM Wilson graduated from the FBI Dallas Citizen’s Academy, Northwest ISD's Leadership NISD program and serves on the Churchill Downs Homeowner's Association Board.

“There's no greater challenge and there is no greater honor than to be in public service.   Let’s always remember our calling to serve others and end our petty squabbles and unite to make Trophy Club the best it can be,” stated CM Wilson.

With the election officially over, the Town of Trophy Club will continue with business as usual.  “With seasons of change come opportunities to excel and that is what Trophy Club is looking to do with the direction of its dedicated leaders, new and existing, at the helm,” stated Steve Norwood, Town Manager.
