[ARCHIVED] TC Fourth of July Celebration News

Fourth of July News

UPDATE Trophy Club, TX (June 10, 2020):  At the June 09, 2020, Town Council Meeting, Mayor Sanders and Town Council voted to move forward with Fourth of July Celebration preparations.

It is our pleasure to announce that the Town of Trophy Club will be having their fireworks show at 9:40 PM on July 4, 2020.  More specific event details will follow soon.

The Town initially canceled the event and festivities due to restrictions in place for COVID-19.  However, these restrictions were lifted per Governor Greg Abbott’s latest orders in his Open Texas Plan, specifically for large outdoor events, Town leadership and staff got together to come up with a viable option for residents to enjoy.

Some Trophy Club Town Council Members acknowledged it is likely people will gather to view the show, especially around Independence Park, which could make social distancing difficult. However, the consensus among the Council was that it’s up to individuals to choose whether or not to attend.

The Town of Trophy Club respectfully asks all residents and spectators who choose to attend to adhere to all social distancing and CDC guidelines, but most importantly, make the best decision for yourselves and your families as you celebrate our nation’s independence.

Under the Governor’s new order, gatherings of 500 people or more may begin with the following recommended minimum protocols for all outdoor events in the state:

  • All people should avoid contact within six feet of people who are age 65 or older, who are still urged to stay home as much as possible.
  • Individuals should avoid being in groups of larger than 10 people. Inside these groups, people should minimize in-person contact with others outside their own household.
  • Individuals should maintain six feet of separation from others outside their own group.
  • Individuals should self-screen for symptoms of COVID-19 before attending an event.
  • People should wash or disinfect their hands after interactions with other people or items at the event.
  • Face coverings are encouraged.
  • Clean and sanitize any items before and after use.

UPDATE Trophy Club, TX (May 27, 2020) – Town officials and staff are working on a possible FIREWORKS ONLY option for July Fourth 2020.  Nothing has been confirmed as of yet.  A final decision will be made on June 09, 2020.  We apologize for the delay!

Trophy Club, TX (May 7, 2020) – Town officials have decided to cancel the 2020 Fourth of July Celebration & Fireworks as well as the 2020 Summer Adventure Camp and delay the opening of the Community Pool. This difficult decision was made due to the uncertainty surrounding the timeline for allowance of large gatherings by the Governor’s office and the difficulty in following the health guidelines outlined by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This was not an easy decision, however, the safety and well-being of our residents must be our top priority.

The Fourth of July Celebration is a daylong event that consists of a 5K run, parade and evening celebration. Historically the Patriot 5K & Fun Run has 500+ registered racers and the Parade of Patriots has well over 1,000 participants and spectators combined. The Fourth of July Celebration & Fireworks is Trophy Club’s biggest event of the year and brings approximately 4,500 people to the annual event. The event takes place at Independence Park East with food vendors, various children’s activities, a live performance by Limelight and a twenty-minute firework show to end the evening.

In order for these events to be successful for our residents, many hours of planning and pre-production are required. As such, it was necessary to make this decision now to ensure ample time to cancel contracts with vendors and recover our costs and obligations.

Assistant Town Manager, Wade Carroll, stated “the health and safety of our community is the top priority and at the forefront of all decisions made during these unprecedented times. We look forward to the day when we can all come together once again and celebrate the events that make Trophy Club a great place to call home.” Town Manager, Steve Norwood, went on to say “we are disappointed that we will not be able to host our Fourth of July events this year and we look forward to celebrating Independence Day with our residents in 2021.”

The Parks & Recreation Department is looking for alternative dates in the fall to reschedule the live band performance and firework show. Residents are encouraged to visit the Town’s website and social media platforms for the most up to date information on special events.

Trophy Club residents are encouraged to visit: to keep up with the impacts made in Town due to COVID-19.
