TM News Flash

Trophy Club, TX (March 09, 2020) – Town Manager Steve Norwood along with approval from Town Council has hired Leticia M. Vacek for the position of Town Secretary, effective today, March 09.

Vacek will be replacing Holly Fimbres, who accepted a new position in neighboring Grapevine within the City Secretary’s Office.

Vacek said she is looking forward to being closer to family and friends that live in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

“I enthusiastically look forward to becoming part of the Trophy Club team to share my expertise and am delighted to partake in the quality of life Trophy Club offers,” stated Vacek.

Vacek has been the City Clerk since May 2004 in San Antonio.  In her role in San Antonio City Hall, Vacek was responsible for recording the formal actions of the city council and maintaining and preserving the official city records. She also was responsible for ensuring municipal elections were carried out according to local and state law.

During her time in San Antonio, Vacek oversaw a staff of 36 employees spread among the Office of the City Clerk, the Municipal Archives Division, the Passport Division, and the Vital Records Division, managing an Operating & Revenue Budget of $6.8 million - and on Election Years increases to over $8 million.

A major accomplishment as the Official Custodian of Historical Records Vacek oversaw a 60,000 sq. ft. off-site Municipal Archives and Records Center. She also began the San Antonio’s first Archival Program/Division, hired the first Archivist and unveiled the City’s first Digital Collections in 2007.

Another major accomplishment includes when Vacek strategically envisioned and implemented San Antonio’s Passport Acceptance Facility in partnership with the US Department of State in order to process passport applications; providing the public a choice. Since May 2010; said division has generated over $5M in new revenue for the City’s General Fund.

“The Council and I are excited to have Mrs. Vacek join our team of Town employees,” Mayor Sanders stated. “She will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Town Secretary’s Office and I am looking forward to her helping Trophy Club celebrate our unique history.”

Vacek began her municipal career with the City of Harlingen as Assistant City Clerk in 1986. In 1988, she joined the City of McAllen and was appointed McAllen City Clerk in June 1990 by the Mayor and Council and also served as Director of Civil Service.

During her tenure in McAllen, she was promoted to Director of Administration overseeing the Media Relations Office, the City’s Cable Network Office, Mail Center, Vital Statistics Divisions, and the Office of the City Clerk.

Vacek earned a degree from South Texas College in public service administration.  She also earned a Bachelor’s and Masters’s degrees from the University of Incarnate Word, with a focus on Administration / Organization Development.  She is a graduate of the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program at the University of North Texas earning the Texas Registered Municipal Clerk (TRMC) designation.  Vacek attained the Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) and the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designations as well.

"I am definitely covering our great State of Texas having started at the tip of Texas in Harlingen, then McAllen, previously San Antonio, and now Trophy Club!" said Vacek.

Town Manager Steve Norwood stated, “Letty will be a great asset to the Town!  We are extremely excited to have someone of her caliber join our team!”
