It’s easy to take deodorant or a bottle of spray cleaner for granted. But many men, women, and children in the North Texas area don’t have these types of toiletries or basic essentials needed for daily living. This didn’t sit well with a group of employees at Trophy Club’s’ Town Hall. The team decided they wanted to give back and do something good for others so they reached out to the Roanoke Food Pantry.
The Roanoke Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 organization that assists families in need year-round. Though they primarily see women and children, they help any and all members of the community that are in need. Most of their families live in the NISD area.
“When I spoke to the manager she said what they REALLY needed was these basic essential items like diapers, wipes or even toothpaste,” stated April Duval, Chief Financial Analyst in the Town Finance Department. “It breaks my heart to think of parents who don’t have the means to run out and grab a bag of diapers having to keep their kiddos in wet ones just a little longer then they should in order to make what they have last.”
With that, the Town of Trophy Club decided the only way to kick off this holiday season of giving is by actually doing just that, giving. Through the organization and dedication of this dedicated team, a Toiletry and Basic Needs Drive was born. All donations will benefit the Roanoke Food Pantry.
“It gives me great pride to see this exceptional group of Town employees look beyond themselves or their own families to help others around them,” said Town Manager Steve Norwood. “It is a great example of our staff carrying out one of our five core values. Service to our team means working hard with dedication and respect while striving for excellence in the service of others. I’m very proud of them for organizing this drive.”
Help the Town of Trophy Club provide personal hygiene products and other essential items to people in need this holiday season. Donations that are needed include unopened personal hygiene products as well as basic household cleaning items. High need items, as designated by the Roanoke Food Pantry, are listed below.
Donated items may be dropped off at the Trophy Club Town Hall beginning Monday, December 02, 2019 - Friday, December 20, 2019, during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Final collection will end on December 20, 2019, at 12:00 PM.
Here is a comprehensive list of what they are in need of (and a smaller list of what IS NOT needed at this time):
- Dish soap
- Clorox wipes
- Laundry soap (64 oz or smaller – no huge Costco/Sam’s sizes please)
- Dryer sheets
- Spray cleaners
- Sponges & cleaning brushes
- Floor and/or countertop cleaner/spray
- Toilet bowl cleaner, brushes
- Microfiber cleaning cloths
- Any other cleaning supplies used on a regular basis
- Dishwasher soap
TOILETRIES ( and personal items)
- Soap (liquid and bar)
- Body wash
- Shaving cream
- MEN’S razors (doesn’t need women’s)
- Diapers especially size 4 & 5
- Dental floss
- Hand sanitizer
- Any other personal care products
ITEMS NOT NEEDED: Toothpaste, Toilet paper, shampoo & conditioner, women’s razors
