The stars at night, are big and bright! Texas, otherwise known as the Lone Star State, was originally part of Mexico before being admitted to the United States in 1845. It’s a gigantic state of over 261,000 square miles. In fact, it’s so big that the Dallas-Fort Worth area alone has a large population than that of 39 of the other states! Geographically, the state is so wide that El Paso is closer to the border of California than it is to Dallas. Plus, the state has an interesting history.
Aside from its current position in the United States, it’s also been a part of Mexico, France, the Confederacy, the Republic of Texas, and even Spain! And don’t forget about their professional sports teams. Texas has everything from the Dallas Cowboys to the Houston Texans to the San Antonio Spurs. Oh, and as far as cities go, there’s a plethora, including Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso, to name a few.
There are tons of things to see and do in Texas, including:
- Big Bend National Park: If you love nature, you’ll enjoy over 800,000 acres of rivers, deserts, wildlife and mountains in this beautiful wilderness.
- The Alamo: Make sure to remember to go to the Alamo! It’s a fort and museum with artifacts, gardens, and tours.
- Padre Island: Right off the coast of Texas’ southern border, this island includes a wonderful beach with rare sea turtles.
No matter what brings you to Texas, the safety of you and your loved ones is always a concern. Using crime data from the F.B.I, Security Baron has calculated America’s safest cities in terms of violence and property crimes, populations, median incomes, and other factors. TheTrophy Club came in at #7 for the safest City in Texas.
