Weather Tips

TC Alerts Weather Header (1)

Be prepared for winter weather by taking the following steps before the weather arrives:

SuppliesEnsure you have extra food/water, medications, and pet supplies on hand. This is also a good time to make sure you have a full tank of gas in your vehicle.
GeneratorIf you have a generator, make sure you have enough fuel on-hand. If the power goes out at your house, it's probably out at the gas station down the street as well.
ElderlyCheck on your neighbors. Elderly and shut-ins are vulnerable during these weather events. Make a phone call, swing by, and ask them if they need anything.
DrivingIf you must get out on icy roads, drive carefully. Make sure your windshield is clear as well as your roof. Give yourself plenty of extra space and time to slow down at intersections.
Pets

Pets should NOT be left outside for any length of time.

RadioFollow your local radio, TV, media outlets for the latest information and weather updates.
PipesPrevent frozen pipes by opening kitchen and bathroom cabinets to allow warmer air to circulate the plumbing. If the pipes do freeze: keep the faucet open (Running water through the pipe will help melt ice in the pipes).
