January 30, 2020:
UPDATE (6:28PM)🚧: We know the timing is not ideal. However, based on the amount of concrete being poured the trucks needed to stage and start first thing in the morning in order to get poured. It takes hours so by having the rucks ready early, they can accomplish as much concrete pour as needed. The concrete company has worked diligently with staff for the best plan so as to NOT affect traffic as much as possible. Truck routes were moved away from the schools and by having the trucks staged as they are early, the only true impact we anticipate will be when a truck is called forward from staging. Staff will be onsite tomorrow in case any issues arise, but we do NOT anticipate any at this time.
In addition, staff did request to pour on the weekend, unfortunately, the concrete company only does large pours on weekends and though it’s a large project for TC, for the concrete company our project does not meet that level.
Also please bear in mind this is for one lane of the project. In a few weeks, the trucks will return and they will pour the other lane. That being said, the good news is this project is running on time and we anticipate completion in April.
UPDATE (3:00 PM) Starting tomorrow, January 31, small groups of 3-10 cement trucks will begin pouring on Trophy Club Drive. The trucks will be entering town on Trophy Lake Drive, continuing through the roundabout and making their turn around at the end of Trophy Club Drive near Kent Street (where TC Drive dead-ends). The trucks will stage just short of Bobcat Blvd leaving access to the slip road on TC Drive. There will be flaggers and other personnel in position to assist motorists traveling through the area. The concrete pour will begin at Bobcat Blvd and move south toward Durango Drive beginning at approximately 7:00 AM. Barring any problems that might arise, the construction crew plans to pour half of the lane pour Friday and the other half on Monday. We urge drivers to be cautious as the cement trucks will be in the school zones throughout the day.
We apologize for this inconvenience however this construction IS inline with the original awarded contract. PD will also be onsite doing their best to manage traffic and any possible issues. We are also working with NISD to get the message out.
January 07, 2020:
The CIP Trophy Club Drive construction project is slating 3 weeks ahead in its progress! Things are moving along well. With that being said, the median at Durango and Trophy Club Drive has been removed as planned within the project scope. This could expect delays in the traffic pattern, especially with kids going back to school tomorrow, January 8th. Please see the below map and the optional traffic route. PD will be onsite to assist with the traffic to keep things moving steady! We appreciate your patience!
December 04, 2019:
Update on the contractor schedule for the month of December. The removal of the existing concrete (excluding the intersections) will be completed this week (week of December 02). The new inlet bottoms will be poured by the end of the week also. Beginning the week of 12/9-12/20 they will begin building grade within the roadway.
Jackson Construction will be closed for the holidays on 12/21/19 thru 1/2/2020. They plan to begin placing lime when they return to work on 1/3/2020. For questions, please contact Tommy Uzee at 682.237.2915 or [email protected]
November 21, 2019:
Construction is proceeding as scheduled and traffic seems to have settled in and become familiarized with the new layout. Staff will continue monitoring to see what happens in order to adjust when the need arises.
The contractor-in-charge of this project, with Jackson Construction, Ryan, has released the Thanksgiving schedule and it is noted that there will be NO WORK, in progress, Thursday, November 28 through Sunday, December 01 of Thanksgiving week. They will commence on Monday, December 02.
November 12, 2019:
A sign was added to the existing stop sign at Trophy Club Drive and Bobcat today that informs drivers that cross traffic doesn’t stop. The goal is to inform those turning South on Trophy Club Drive that the intersection is not a four-way stop and that they should yield to the through traffic. Staff hopes this will provide more direction and clarity to drivers at this particular intersection.
November 08, 2019:
The town notified the Meadow Ridge HOA earlier in the week that the trees along Trophy Club Drive would need to be trimmed to a canopy height of 15 ft. Equipment required for the construction could not do the work unless the canopy was raised. These trimmings took place and though seem unsightly were necessary for work to continue on the CIP project.
November 02, 2019: (UPDATE)
Last night’s experience with the road closure in place, was like many. It can look good on paper, but the test is putting it to the task. Staff worked this morning to correct some areas of concern and will continue monitoring activity even when it has become smooth.
Pavement removal, originally scheduled for the week of December 2nd, will now begin the week of November 4th. The contractor has done a great job in the first of three(3) phases and is now ahead of schedule.
For questions, please contact Tommy Uzee at 682.237.2915 or [email protected]
November 02, 2019:
Following three accidents at Durango and Trophy Club Drive during the evening of Oct 31, the following modifications were made immediately in the morning to help traffic flow as smoothly as possible:
- Widening the turn Southbound as well as to add a gradual merge lane South.
- Crews made adjustments at Bobcat and Trophy Club Drive so turns could be wider and easier for vehicles and larger transpo, such as school buses, to make their maneuvers safely.
After these changes were made, Director Uzee spoke with the contractor and found out that some of the traffic issues which caused backups were the result of heavy equipment deliveries for the project. Director Uzee requested moving forward that any deliveries of the like be done in off-peak hours to help avoid backups with traffic.
These proactive adjustments are a direct example of our team doing as they promised in monitoring the situation and making necessary and appropriate adjustments!
November 01, 2019:
TC Drive CONSTRUCTION: This morning, Trophy Club Police Department is working with the Streets Division and the Project Contractor to make adjustments and changes for the current traffic flow on Trophy Club Drive and Durango. If you’re turning SOUTHBOUND from Durango Drive onto Trophy Club Drive, the NEW traffic flow will now allow you to turn South onto Trophy Club Dr. and merge down by the apartments.
