Citizens Police Academy
The Trophy Club Police Department (TCPD) hosts the Citizens Police Academies (CPA) each year. The CPA teaches residents about the “real” world of Law Enforcement and how the TCPD operates in Trophy Club. Classes run for 8 weeks and will not only educate residents but also dispel myths that many of our citizens hear around Town from friends and neighbors, as well as address the sensationalism seen on the television. Come learn what Community Policing is all about and how our style is different from other towns.
If there are questions that you have always wanted to ask, this is the place to come. Some of the topics will include:
- Patrol/traffic operations
- DWI and mental health
- Criminal Investigations
- K-9/ Regional Swat
- Crime prevention
In addition, participants will learn how investigations are conducted and what actually goes on around Trophy Club.
Classes are currently scheduled for Thursdays, from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m, or until the last question is asked.
Class dates will be: February 3, 10, 17, 24 and March 3, 10, 24, 31. After the 8-week course, there will be a graduation ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Citizens Police Academy.
A complete background check is required for all interested participants. Requirements to sign up are as follows:
- You must be at least 18 years of age
- A resident of Trophy Club or work in Trophy Club
- Not miss more than one (1) class
- Pass a background check
Due to the nature of the material that is presented in class, a background investigation is conducted on each applicant. Persons who have ever been convicted of a Class B Misdemeanor or greater are not eligible to attend or participant.
