Conservation & Preservation
Conservation and preservation practices require a coordinated effort by both the town and Trophy Club residents in order to ensure that the community is protected today and in the future. Many different components go into assuring that the community is engaged in best practices:
Direct Citizen Input
Trophy Club has several Boards and Committees whose role is to ensure that various standards and guidelines are not only adhered to but are continually adapted to fit the needs and desires of the community.
Planning & Zoning & Code Enforcement
Planning and Zoning and Code Enforcement ensure that the developmental standards established by Town Council are monitored and enforced.
Water Conservation Plan
Trophy Club has year-round watering restrictions to conserve water. As a part of the Drought Contingency and Emergency Water Management Plan (PDF), and the Water Conservation Plan (PDF), Trophy Club follows Fort Worth through the various drought and emergency response stages as drought conditions require. Additionally, public awareness and education tools are implemented to remind users to conserve water.
Storm Water Management
Trophy Club has a Storm Water Management Plan in order to address drainage issues and systems in town that have a direct impact on the environment. The plan involves working with FEMA regarding flood insurance, a creek analysis, and Creek Care Guide, a partnership with the Northwest Independent School District regarding drainage improvements, a “Pooper-Scooper” ordinance for pets, a Swimming Pool ordinance and other elements affecting storm drainage in Trophy Club.
Semi-Annual Household Hazardous Waste Events
Trophy club sponsors a spring and fall event open to all residents to safely and conveniently dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste and to prevent pollution. Residents may also go directly to the Fort Worth Environmental Center at 6400 Bridge Street in Fort Worth, 817-392-3279. Please take your water bill as proof of residency.
Tree Preservation Ordinance
The Tree Preservation Ordinance requires developers to take precautions in protecting existing trees during construction and require replacement of trees that must be removed for construction.
Parks Department
The Parks Department maintains all athletic and public open spaces and utilizes industry best practices to ensure the natural resources are managed efficiently. Parks staff monitors and maintains the suburban landscape using drip irrigation to conserve water, installing only native or naturalized trees and shrubs, and uses smaller energy efficient golf cart-style vehicles for a majority of transportation. The xeriscape medians in town are a direct result of a focused effort to reduce water usage.
Recreation Department
The Recreation Department works to build public awareness to promote environmental stewardship. Events such as Arbor Day and National Trails Day help educate the public about the importance of preserving and conserving environmental resources. Recreation staff also coordinates many volunteer related activities that focus on improving neighborhoods.
Streets Department
Every year the Streets Department performs storm drain clean outs, where crew members physically crawl into manholes and remove debris from within the storm drains in Trophy Club.
