Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service presents the 'Watch UR BAC program’ — November 19 & 20

The Watch UR BAC (pronounced “Watch Your Back,”) program teaches students about alcohol misuse, dangers of impaired driving, and friends watching out for friends. Patrick Arata, a former Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), has been named the new Chief of Police for the Trophy Club Police Department. Mr. Arata is a three year resident of Trophy Club and brings not only excellent law enforcement management experience, but also close ties to the community he calls home. Arata will officially assume office on November 3, 2014 and plans to make many positive changes for the department.

Trophy Club Chief of Police, Scott Kniffen, will retire on September 26, 2014 after 40 years in law enforcement. Chief Kniffen has led the Trophy Club Police Department since September 2006 and faithfully served the citizens of Trophy Club for eight years. He and his wife Joanne have purchased acreage in Clyde, Texas, and look forward to a slow-paced retirement in a tight-knit community with deep family roots.

Town Council Amends Solicitation Ordinance, Implements No-Knock List

At the August 12, 2014 meeting, the Town Council voted unanimously to amend various sections of the ‘Peddlers and Solicitors’ ordinance in an effort to better protect residents from the negative impacts associated with soliciting and distribution. The amended ordinance still maintains a business’s First Amendment right to communicate to potential customers, but also allows residents the right to ‘opt out’ if they do not want door-to-door solicitors or handbills dropped at their door.

Citizens Police Academy — Begins August 21st

Interested in learning about the “real” world of Law Enforcement and policing Trophy Club style?  Join the Trophy Club Police Department (TCPD) as a member of the 2014 Fall Citizen’s Police Academy, which starts on:

August 21 at 7:00 p.m.

Classes run for 11 weeks and are every Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., or until the last question is asked, at the Fire Department Training Room (295 Trophy Club Drive).

Please do not be alarmed at an increased police presence at BNHS on Monday, June 23 through Thursday, June 26. Several agencies will be conducting active shooter training at the school.

Beginning Monday June 23rd, the Trophy Club Police Department will host four days of training at Byron Nelson High School (BNHS). Other participating agencies include Argyle, Keller, Northlake, Roanoke and Southlake.
