The National Institutes of Health recently called child sexual abuse the most dangerous issue facing America’s kids. The month of April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Trophy Club Police Department & Premier Academy are proud to partner with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County to host a seminar and discussion about how to recognize and report child abuse in our community.

Spring will bring warmer temperatures to Texas, but it also brings the threat of severe weather with little time to prepare. The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) urges consumers to plan for severe weather and take steps to reduce the risk of property damage, before storms strike.

The community-wide biannual Trophy Club Garage Sale is Saturday, October 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Many Trophy Club households participate and the event brings thousands of visitors into Trophy Club. First Enterovirus D68 Case (EV-D68) Reported in Denton County

A pediatric case of EV-D68 was reported to the Denton County Health Department late Thursday afternoon, making it the first case of the illness for the county. The patient was hospitalized, and has been released. For patient confidentiality reasons, no further personal information will be released.

The Denton County Health Department (DCHD) is reporting its first human cases of West Nile Virus (WNV) of the season and the first case of Chikungunya virus (ChikV) in a Denton County resident.  The Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed yesterday two cases of WNV—one resident in the City of Denton, the other in Argyle.

Update (August 19, 2014) --- Residents are welcome to call or email Code Enforcement for help with mosquito dunks on private property or an area of concern: 682-831-4659.

The Texas Department of Agriculture has determined that, "The only way to redistribute pesticides (classified as general use) such as most if not all mosquito dunks are general use,  is to distribute them in the manufacturer’s original packaging. Update (July 23, 2014) --- Freedom Dog Park will reopen to the public on Wednesday, July 30th after almost two weeks of precautionary measures to decontaminate the park. Crews had to wait until the ground dried completely from the rains last Thursday before beginning the process of cleaning and disinfecting. All visible dog feces will be removed and all drinking bowls replaced. The dog park will receive two rounds of remediation utilizing a diluted bleach solution to spray all areas where feces was found,…
