Whenever you are not in your vehicle, you are a pedestrian! Pedestrian safety in Trophy Club is essential to preventing injuries and fatalities, especially with the constant traffic and active resident lifestyle in town. Many children walk to school or a friend’s house and crosswalks are sometimes busy with traffic coming and going. Drivers must coexist with cyclists, walkers, runners and anyone enjoying the outdoors to ensure that Trophy Club roadways remain safe and incident free.

The Dallas Morning News (DMN) recently published the areas 10 Healthiest Neighborhoods and, although Trophy Club did not make the list, the Town was certainly well represented. The 10 healthiest communities were ranked according to four key factors:

  • Walking and biking trails
  • Pollution
  • Exercise facilities
  • Availability of healthy food

The first reported human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Denton County appeared in June 2012 and within three months the Denton County Health Department (DCHD) confirmed two human cases of WNV in Trophy Club (August 2012). Human WNV cases popped up in cities all over North Texas forcing many municipalities to make a challenging decision regarding aerial spraying for mosquitoes (Trophy Club opted in for aerial spraying). In 2012 Denton County reported 184 total human cases and two deaths caused by the disease.

Trophy Club Police Department Building Rehab Project

On Monday, April 22 the Town Council approved a bid from Jamail & Smith Construction for $97,964.74 to rehab the Trophy Club Police Department building that was damaged in February from a sewage leak underneath the building. Jamail & Smith Construction was awarded the project by Town Council after submitting a competitive bid with an aggressive timeline for rehabbing the building. The thirty-two day project began May 7, 2013 and addressed the major sewage leak found under the patrol room by raking lime into the contaminated soil.  The…
