Patrick Arata, a former Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), has been named the new Chief of Police for the Trophy Club Police Department. Mr. Arata is a three year resident of Trophy Club and brings not only excellent law enforcement management experience, but also close ties to the community he calls home. Arata will officially assume office on November 3, 2014 and plans to make many positive changes for the department.

UPDATE (October 7, 2014) --- The property owner has withdrawn application for proposed amendments to the PD-30 development standards effective today. All meetings regarding the proposed amendments have been cancelled.

First Enterovirus D68 Case (EV-D68) Reported in Denton County

A pediatric case of EV-D68 was reported to the Denton County Health Department late Thursday afternoon, making it the first case of the illness for the county. The patient was hospitalized, and has been released. For patient confidentiality reasons, no further personal information will be released.

Town Council Adopts $16.3 Million FY15 Budget; Lowers Tax Rate

On September 23, the Town Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2014-2015 annual operating budget of $16,279,695, which includes a municipal tax rate of $0.49 per $100 valuation. The adopted FY15 tax rate is nearly 2% lower than the previous year’s rate which equates to an almost one penny tax rate decrease. Strong reserves, solid growth and rising property values helped reduce property taxes for Trophy Club residents.

The Trophy Club Town Council is seeking residents who are willing to spend a few hours a month to serve their community. Appointed Board  Members must agree to serve without compensation but may be reimbursed for actual expenses approved in advance by the Town Council.

The Denton County Health Department (DCHD) is reporting its first human cases of West Nile Virus (WNV) of the season and the first case of Chikungunya virus (ChikV) in a Denton County resident.  The Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed yesterday two cases of WNV—one resident in the City of Denton, the other in Argyle.
