Town Council will canvass the election results at the November 13, 2015 Special Call Meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the Svore Municipal Building Boardroom (100 Municipal Dr.).

October 22, 2015 --- Updated renderings, as well as a scale model of the facility, were presented by the architect at the October 8 Town Hall meeting. Watch the Town Hall meeting and review the presentation given by Town Manager Stephen Seidel. The facility model is located in the Permitting/Municipal Court lobby for public display.

Final Design Concept Selected by Council

August 12, 2015 ---  At the August 11 meeting, the Town Council decided to move forward with a general design for the proposed Joint Facility. Out of three options discussed over the past several months, Council decided to select one concept in order to save on further design costs and continue developing plans for the future building.

Council also called the November 3, 2015 Bond Election for the issuance of $5.4M of General Obligations Bonds for the Joint Police and Town Hall Facility.

July 29, 2015 --- Over the last couple of months the Town Council has continued to work with GSBS Architects regarding the proposed Town Hall/Police Department joint facility. No final decisions have been made regarding the cost, design, materials, etc., however the Council has received citizen and staff input on a preliminary master site plan, floor plan, exterior finishes and renderings. The Council plans to place the Joint Facility Project bond on the November 3, 2015 election ballot for a citizen vote and anticipates calling the election at the August 11, 2015 Council meeting. 

The proposed building is currently approximately 24,000 square feet (sq ft) and includes:

  • Approximately 8,800 sq ft for the Police Department — includes an animal holding facility
  • Approximately 6,400 sq ft of common space — lobby areas, community meeting room, training & voting room, public restrooms and Council chambers
  • Approximately 7,800 sq ft for Town Staff — includes all Town departments, except Fire/EMS, which will remain at the Fire Station

Council is exploring the option to install a movable wall system throughout the building that allows for a quick, efficient and flexible solution to accommodate the future changing needs of the organization and community.

A final budget for the joint facility project has not been set, however Council and Staff have identified $3.86M in alternative funding for the project, including savings on the land purchase, Crime Control & Prevention District (CCPD) contribution, proceeds from a 2012 tax note and reserves from the General Fund. The bond amount for the joint facility project considered by voters in the November election will be net the $3.86M due to the alternative funding available.

Town Council Seeking Public Input on Joint Police & Town Hall Facility

May 20, 2015 --- The Town Council is seeking public input regarding what citizens would like to see in a Joint Police & Town Hall facility. The Council has placed a standing item on future agendas allowing for citizen input and dialogue between the Town Council Members and residents. Property for the new facility has been purchased, and the Council is now examining opportunities, options and resident ideas.

Bring your questions and comments to the Town Council meetings, which are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The Council meets in the Svore Municipal Building Boardroom located at 100 Municipal Drive.
