Beck Elementary Principal, Sandy Conklin, and Parent Teacher Association announced the adoption of a stray bulldog on Tuesday, August 26. Students were introduced to the adoptee as they entered for the first day of class. Beck Elementary students will learn how to be responsible pet owners as they provide Beck’s new Bulldog a loving forever home!

A contest to name the bulldog begins Tuesday, August 26. Contest participation is exclusive to Beck students and a panel of Beck staff, students and PTA members, will decide on the final name. The student who names the bulldog will receive a class party of the teacher or class choice.

During the Beck PTA general meeting and Watch Dog Dad pizza party on September 16, special guests will present the bulldog with a collar, tags and Trophy Club registration, a requirement in the town of Trophy Club. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m.

A few of the special guests include Trophy Club Mayor Nick Sanders, Trophy Club Animal Control Officer Kelly Akin, and Trophy Club animal advocate Susan Edstrom. Edstrom is also the President of the Trophy Club Shelter Board and manages the Lost Found Trophy Club Animals Facebook page.

“This is a great chance to teach our children to love, protect and care for all beings,” said Edstrom. “I applaud our Beck PTA and Principal Conklin for bringing this to Beck Elementary.”
