The Trophy Club Fire Department (TCFD), along with 14 neighboring northeast Tarrant County fire departments, received the 2013 Lone Star Achievement Award at the Texas Fire Chief's annual conference in February. The award was given to the Northeast Fire Department Association (NEFDA), of which TCFD is a member. TCFD received the crystal award (pictured) on May 8, 2014.
The multi-jurisdictional collaboration created a safer regional community through proactive injury prevention programs. An enhanced Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) / Technical Rescue capability was developed and implemented as an automatic aid deployment at multi-alarm events within all 14 NEFDA cities. The program produced positive outcomes that enhanced the department’s fire and life safety service delivery, and directly increased firefighter safety and wellness. The NEFDA program provides an excellent case study in collaborative sharing for the benefit of fire fighter safety.
The Lone Star Achievement Award honors departments for implementing an innovative and progressive program that enhances their community’s fire and life safety service delivery.
