FitCities Program

The Town of Trophy Club is participating in the statewide FitCities program in partnership with the Texas Roundup, a nonprofit organization focused on encouraging Texans to be physically active. The FitCities program is a fun and interactive way for our residents to stay active, track their physical activity and take part in events such as the Governor's Challenge and the FitCities 5K Challenge.

Why was this program created? The increasing prevalence of overweight and obese children and adults is a serious concern for Texas. Not only does being overweight have medical implications, but it also impacts a person's quality of life. In accordance with the US Department of Health and Human Services' guidelines for physical activity, the state of Texas has created the Texas Roundup Health and Fitness Initiative. The initiative is designed to encourage all Texans to be physically active at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

The Governor's Challenge
Governor Perry has challenged all Texans to engage in enough physical activity to meet these minimum recommendations. Texas Roundup has created a website which allows everyone to create an account and track their physical activity. Once you have created an account, you can join the official Trophy Club Team so that all of your activity hours will be counted towards Trophy Club's total. We are competing with other similarly-sized municipalities in Texas to see who can win the Governor's Challenge and be proclaimed the 'Fittest City in Texas'! The Governor's Challenge runs through early April, so we encourage all residents to log on to the Texas Roundup website and begin reporting your physical activity today!

The adult man, adult woman, and child under 18 years with the highest number of reported of activity hours at the end of the challenge will be recognized with a certificate at the FitCities 5K Challenge on Saturday, April 24.
