ISO RATING

What is ISO?
The Insurance Services Office, Inc. is an insurer-supported organization with the primary mission of providing advisory insurance underwriting information to insurers. The goal of ISO is to accurately rate the community’s fire suppression and control resources through a Public Protection Classification (PPC) system. The PPC number is one of several elements considered in the calculation of individual property insurance premiums by insurance companies. Almost every insurance company utilizes PPC codes in establishing premiums for both commercial and residential property policies. Public Protection Classification ratings go from class 1, representing the best public protection to class 10.

In 1999 Trophy Club was rated a class 4, and over the years with community support and continual development we were able to request a new review to determine if our community was eligible for an improvement in our ISO rating, and thus in our insurance rates. On April 30, 2008, the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) submitted a letter of rate adjustment to the Texas Department of Insurance, State Fire Marshal’s office, for the new class 3 rating. The class 3 rating went into effect on November 1, 2008. To learn more about ISO, go to the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office web site.
