Welcome to the Trophy Club Fire Department, located at 295 Trophy Club Drive. The Trophy Club Fire Department was initially established in 1982 as an all-volunteer organization and has grown to include fifteen professional Firefighter /Paramedics, in addition to our certified volunteers and part-time Firefighter/EMTs.

In addition to the emergency services, our department also engages in a variety of community education programs aimed at fire prevention and life safety. Our staff is committed to serving the community and providing the highest quality protection for your family and property. FAQs

Should I call 9-1-1? I’m not sure if the situation is serious and I don’t want to get a bill if I don’t really need an ambulance.

If you are unsure, please call 9-1-1. We would rather respond to a situation that isn’t critical than not be called if the patient does need emergency attention. In other words, it’s better to be safe than sorry! If we do not transport a patient to the hospital there is no charge.

Where do you take patients who need to go to a hospital?

We visit several hospitals in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Patients are taken to the full-service hospital that will best address their medical needs. Air medical transport may be called based on the patient’s condition and/or estimated transport times.

Do you provide non-emergency ambulance service?

The Trophy Club Fire Department has staffing and equipment to provide emergency ambulance services. We can only transport patients to a full-service hospital – not to a nursing home, doctor’s office, or clinic.

Why do we charge residents for ambulance service?

The fees for ambulance service are established by the Town Council in the Town’s Schedule of Fees. We use Intermedix, a third-party billing service, who bills the patient’s insurance company or Medicare. For residents, a zero account balance is rendered after the insurance payment is received. For non- residents, Intermedix bills the balance to the patient and works with them on a payment plan if necessary.

How do I pay my ambulance bill?

Why does the fire truck go on a call for the ambulance?

All Trophy Club Firefighters are dual certified. Each one holds a State certification in Firefighting as well as Paramedic certification. This allows us to have more trained individuals on the scene to assist with patient care, as well as the having the supervisor, who rides on the fire truck, on scene to handle command and control needs as they may arise, e.g., set up a landing zone for a helicopter should an air ambulance become necessary, or request an additional ambulance should we have multiple patients.


What should drivers do when they see emergency vehicles approaching them from behind with lights and sirens on?

Drivers should pull to the right as far as possible, stop their vehicle and allow emergency vehicles to pass before continuing on their journey.

My family member is injured/having chest pains. Isn’t it faster to just drive to the hospital than to wait for an ambulance?

No, if you think someone may be having a heart attack, stroke, or may be seriously injured, please call 911 and let the paramedics come to you. If needed they will be able to deliver lifesaving advanced medical treatment before you arrive at the hospital. Please see the Ambulance page for more information. If necessary, dispatchers can also send a helicopter ambulance to fly the patient to the appropriate hospital.

Should I drive to the fire station to save time?

No, never try to drive an injured or sick person to the fire station. The paramedics may be out on another call or working around town and there may not be anyone at the fire station to help you. Please call 911 and let us come to you.

How do I obtain an outdoor burn permit?

Open burning is not permitted in Trophy Club. The residential lots here are not large enough to have a fire setback from a structure as required in the fire code. See Chapter 3, Article IX.

Can we use our outdoor grill or fireplace?

Contained fires, such as in a grill or outdoor fireplace, are allowed in town, even during dry periods. According to the International Fire Code, as amended and adopted by Town Ordinances, Chapter 3, Article IX, in Section308.3.1:

“Charcoal burners and other open-flame cooking devices shall not be operated or located on combustible balconies or within 10 feet (3048 mm) of combustible construction. Exceptions: 1. One- and two-family dwellings. 2. Where buildings, balconies, and decks are protected by an approved automatic sprinkler system.”

In short, grills are prohibited on apartment balconies or patios.

We encourage you to be “fire smart” when cooking outdoors to prevent injury to your family as well as damage to your property. Please see the outdoor cooking link in the Fire Prevention section.

Can we set off fireworks in our backyard?

Individual fireworks displays are prohibited by Town ordinance, Chapter 10, Article VI, Use of Fireworks.

I would like to get rid of a bunch of chemicals in my garage (paint, antifreeze, insecticides, etc.) but I don’t want to put them in the regular trash. How can I dispose of them?

Why are the flags at half-mast? How do I know if we should have our flag at half-mast?

Can we visit the fire station and see the fire trucks?

Yes, we welcome visitors of all ages at the fire station. Please call us at 682.237.2940 or contact us to arrange a tour.

Can we have a birthday party at the fire station?

No, we do not host parties at the fire station, but our Firefighter/Paramedics and trucks will visit your party located within the Town of Trophy Club. Please understand that all non-emergency services, such as tours and demonstrations, are subject to change due to emergency calls. TROPHY CLUB EMERGENCY VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATION (TCEVA)

After completing the Citizens Fire Academy or Citizens Police Academy, participants are invited to join the Trophy Club Emergency Volunteers Association. Volunteers who wish to help with firefighter rehabilitation at structure fires receive additional monthly rehab training.

 

CERT – COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM

The Trophy Club Police Department and Southlake DPS joined forces to hold a joint Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class in spring 2012. The class met Thursday evenings for about six weeks. If you are interested in the next class, please contact Scott Voigt at 682.237.2968.

VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER

We welcome Volunteer Firefighters and those wishing to enter the fire service. The following requirements ensure a highly trained and responsible volunteer force.

Eligibility:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have a minimum current Texas EMT certification.
  • Have a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
  • Have a certificate of completion for a Physical Agility Test from TCC, no more than one year old, with components to include:
    1. Rescue maze
    2. Ladder climb
    3. Fire ground evolution drill (hose drag, equipment carry, Kaiser sled, dummy drag, ladder raise)
  • Be willing to work a duty shift at the fire station for a minimum of 40 hours per month, with a minimum of 8 hour blocks at a time.
  • Submit to a screening to include:
    1. Driving history
    2. Criminal background
    3. Drug usage
    4. Character reference Interview

Training

The Trophy Club Fire Department will provide training for those candidates who are not qualified Firefighters with another agency. During the initial Recruit Training, all new volunteers shall undergo six months to one year of close observation with a Field Training Officer (FTO). During this time we will provide the necessary training opportunities and:

  • Firefighter I knowledge and skills will be presented, reviewed and evaluated.
  • Firefighter II training, including live fire training, must be successfully completed.
  • A Volunteer Recruit must obtain a Texas Class B Driver’s License.

After successful completion of the requirements, a Volunteer Recruit will be promoted to Volunteer Firefighter and will be eligible to work at structure fires. Volunteers should expect to spend six – eight hours per month attending continuing education at the fire station.

For Type of Employment please check “Volunteer”. The completed application should be mailed to the Trophy Club Fire Department, attention Fire Chief, or submited to the On Duty Captain at the fire station during regular business hours.

If the application is accepted, a Personal History Statement will be issued to the Volunteer Candidate to complete and submit to the Fire Chief within ten business days of the date of issue.
