With the end-goals of promoting public health, safety, and welfare, the Planning and Zoning Services Division provides professional advice and technical expertise on development related topics. Specifically, the Department offers assistance on zoning, platting, land use, and tree preservation, and maintains the Town's comprehensive plan.
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, in the Municipal Utility District (Svore) Building.
All meetings are open to the public. Agendas are posted at the Svore Municipal Building, 100 Municipal Drive, at least 72 hours in advance.
The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven (7) members. They meet to review rezoning applications, subdivision plats, site plans, re-plats, and development plans. The Committee is a recommending body only, and advises Council on city planning issues.
The Board meets as needed to hear requests for variances and special exceptions to the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance, and decides on appeals when it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance.
