INSURANCE
VIOLATIONS
For
Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No Insurance)
violations, the Defendant must appear IN PERSON or
BY MAIL to the Court ON or BEFORE the
appearance date and complete one of the following:
- If the Defendant had insurance, which was in effect on
the date of the offense, the Defendant must present a valid
insurance card or policy. Upon verification of insurance
coverage, the citation will be presented to the Judge for
dismissal. Proof of insurance may be submitted by mail.
There is no fee required.
- If the Defendant did NOT have insurance, which
was in effect on the date of the offense, but obtains coverage
within THREE (3) BUSINESS days, the Judge will reduce
the fine amount to $275 upon verification. The Defendant
must present a valid insurance card or policy. Proof of
insurance may be submitted by mail.
- If the Defendant was cited while operating another individual's
motor vehicle, and the other individual did NOT have
insurance, the Defendant may request to be placed on the
next available docket to speak with the Judge and request
the State make a motion for dismissal.
