Town of Trophy Club
Telephone Notification System
”Staying Connected”

In an effort to increase citizen awareness of city related issues or emergency situations, the Town of Trophy Club has adopted the use of a telephone notification system that will keep citizens apprised of valuable information. This system is just another way of “staying connected” with our citizens.

The scheduled launch date is August 30, 2007. A test message will be played on this date as well. Please click here for the press release*.

The purpose of the telephone notification system is to quickly disseminate information of significant incidents, city events, utility disruptions/contaminations, or any other event deemed necessary by city management or authorized personnel. The system WILL NOT be utilized for sales, political propaganda, or self gain.

Town & M.U.D. management will determine the personnel/departments authorized to issue a message utilizing the Connect-Cty system. Authorized personnel may utilize the notification system without Town & M.U.D. management approval in emergency situations where public safety or potential loss of property could occur; which include:

  • Severe weather
  • Terrorism related emergencies
  • HAZMAT emergencies
  • Extended utility outages
  • Drinking water contamination
  • Major/significant water or sewer breaks
  • Any other significant event that is either determined as an emergency, or is critical to the county that requires immediate notification to the public

In the event of an emergency, an authorized activator will determine the area or call group that requires notification for that emergency event. Determination of required notifications include:

  • Geographical location
  • Pre-designated point(s) of risk
  • Predetermined sectors
  • Street; multiple streets
  • Predetermined groups
Key staff and elected officials will be notified during any emergency situation regardless of the area affected by the emergency. These include:

  • City Manager
  • City Council Members
  • Emergency Management Team
  • Fire and Police Chief
  • Municipal Utility District Manager
  • Municipal Utility District Directors
Upon determination of locations for notification, the individual creating the call will determine whether to utilize a pre-recorded message or the creation of a new message is necessary for that specific event. Pre-recorded messages can include information such as:

This is the Town of Trophy Club citizen notification system. Weather systems with potential severity are approaching our area. Citizens are encouraged to remain indoors during this weather event. Please stay apprised of potential weather by tuning in to your local television or cable weather stations.

In the event that a pre-recorded message is not suitable for a given emergency situation, the authorized user will record the message based on the information available to that individual at that time. Follow up notifications will be required upon resolution of the emergency situation.

Non-emergency public notifications will be issued by authorized personnel after management review. These types of notifications can include:

  • Water main breaks
  • Street repair or detours
  • Landscaping issues affecting public areas
  • City events of a non-political nature
  • Temporary utility disruption

Complaints in regard to the notification system will be handled by the Town Manager’s office by calling 682-831-4600.
