WHAT
CAN YOU DO?
The
Town of Trophy Club has a role in developing programs
and helping Town residents become better stewards of the
Town's waters, which flow downstream. Educating our residents
about the role they play in creating stormwater pollution
is vital, and we believe |
|
 |
that
once people are aware
of the steps they can
take to improve water quality, they will change their
behaviors.
Preventing
stormwater pollution is simple. Follow these tips and ask your
friends and family to do the same:
-
-
Never dump litter or waste on streets or in storm drains.
- Keep
yard trimmings and leaves out of the street and especially
out of the storm drains.
- Dispose
of household chemicals properly by bringing them to
the Crud Mobile Event held every Spring and Fall, or
take them to Fort Worth Environmental, 6400 Bridge Street
in Fort Worth, 817-871-5275. Please be sure to bring
your water bill with you.
- Pick
up after your pet and dispose of waste in a trash can.
- Clean
up oil spills with kitty litter and fix leaking automobiles.
- Practice
dry cleanup methods when cleaning sidewalks and driveways.
Try using a broom instead of a water hose.
- Call
us to report a polluter. It is illegal to allow any
pollution down a storm drain. If you know of a situation
where pollution may enter the storm drain call 682-831-4614
or enter online via the Citizen
Relationship Management (CRM) software. You may
do this anonymously.
- Report
storm drains that are clogged or otherwise in need of
maintenance by calling 682-831-4614 or online via CRM.
- Wash
your car, boat, RV at the local car wash, where the
water drains to the sanitary sewer versus washing at
home and the water runs to creek via the storm drains.
- Remember:
Water is essential for life and plays a vital role in
the proper functioning of the Earth's ecosystems. The
pollution of water has a serious impact on all living
creatures, and can negatively affect the use of water
for drinking, household needs, recreation, fishing,
transportation and commerce.
