STREET
DEPARTMENT
The
Street Department is responsible for all aspects of maintenance,
repair and rehabilitation of the Town's 30 linear miles of
concrete streets, including treatment of roads during winter
months, street sweeping and curb repairs. Concrete streets
have a much longer life expectancy (durability and pavement
brightness) than asphalt, and the environmental impact of
using concrete in road building is far less than for asphalt.
Additionally,
the Street Department's responsibilities include: stormwater
drainage, which includes maintenance of storm sewers, and
the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and controls,
as necessary. The Street Department also supports other areas
of the Town in various construction activities and capital
improvement projects. Mr. Ed Helton is the superintendent
of the Street Department. For service assistance, call 682-831-4614.
