Thunderstorms…
Tornadoes… Lightning
The Town of Trophy purchased an Outdoor Early warning system
in 2001 that gives our resident the ability to be notified
in the event of an emergency or bad weather.
It
is stressed that these systems are meant to provide early
warning of impending danger. When used in conjunction with
safety plans and emergency planning, the technology of this
system this will be a very effective way to promote public
safety. This system provides residents, who are outside, the
opportunity to take cover in the event of impending bad weather,
chemical spills or other emergencies that require them to
take shelter indoors.
Extensive
research was done on systems in an effort to ensure the system
chosen would have the ability to expand in the future and
meet a selection of criteria deemed necessary for the system
to be effective.
Our
outdoor system has the optional indoor alert devices available
for purchase by our schools and residents.
To provide 100% coverage, based on our current population,
the Town has purchased two towers; located at Trophy Club
Drive and Durango and West Hillside Drive behind Harmony Park.
